SUMMARY:Racism is a Virus\, Too. Talking Our Kids through 2020
DESCRIPTION:As adults\, many of us have spent the better part of the last few weeks glued to the news. Alongside our mourning of the loss of Black lives\, we are trying to stay abreast of ongoing developments of uprisings across the country\, understand and appreciate our roles as individuals in a larger movement\, and direct our actions in solidarity with Black communities locally and nationally\, already deeply hurting. This\, all within the context of an ongoing pandemic crisis. \n \n \nAs we reflect on and struggle to make sense of all that 2020 has thrown at us thus far\, we find ourselves searching for the right words for difficult conversations with our children. We have the news\, the experts\, and the historical context\, not to mention the lived experiences. But how do we begin to explain 2020 to our kids?\n\nJoin us on Tuesday\, June 23rd at 6:00pm for an open dialogue with the experts. “Racism is a Virus\, Too: Talking Our Kids through 2020” will address some of the unique challenges of being a parent\, caregiver\, or educator in 2020.\n \n \nWe are hopeful this virtual community gathering will shed light on parenting insights for intellectual growth and mental health support\, as well as equip those of us who interact with children and young adults with an increased fluency in constructive\, supportive dialogues about sensitive topics (racism\, bullying\, health risks\, and more).\n\nNAAAP Detroit will moderate a 60-minute panel discussion followed by a 30-minute Q&A session with attendees. Booking is required for this event—please reserve your spot below. All are welcome!\n\n\n	\n \n	\n \n Book My Spot!	\n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Liz Kleinrock \n \n Panelist 1: Anti-bias and Anti-racist Educator\n programming@naaapdetroit.org\n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n\nThis is Photoshop’s version of Lorem Ipsum.
