Second Annual Signature Event
Community Conversations:
Session 1: Discovering Your Voice
Session 2: Developing & Leveraging Your Signature Voice
On November 9, 2019, the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) Detroit will host its annual Signature Event – Community Conversations with two separate, thematically related sessions. With an emphasis on honing individual strengths and effectively articulating them to the world, NAAAP Detroit’s event will feature the powerful personal testimony of Simon Tam, as well as interactive workshops led by an exemplary panel from GiANT Worldwide with three motivational speakers including Abraham Gin – CEO of Gin Consulting Group and Senior Consultant of GiANT Worldwide, Jim Lee – Senior Consultant of GiANT Worldwide, and Allison Choi – HR Consultant of Movember Foundation and Ambassador of GiANT Worldwide.
The first session of the Community Conversations, “Discovering Your Voice”, will be held at the Henry Ford Museum in the Anderson Theater. It will shed light on how our upbringing affects the way we handle ourselves and how we react to our surroundings.
Keynote speaker, Simon Tam, will start this session by sharing his personal story, which is detailed in his memoir, “Slanted: How an Asian American Troublemaker Took on the Supreme Court” (2019). He recently helped expand civil liberties by winning a unanimous victory in the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark case, Matal v. Tam (2017). His work has been highlighted in more than 3,000 media outlets across 150 countries, including The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, NPR, BBC, The New York Times, and Rolling Stone.
The first session will continue after Simon Tam’s talk with a presentation on GiANT Worldwide’s 5 Voices Leadership framework. This framework is the code for unlocking people’s capacity to have honest conversations to build deeper, more authentic relationships within teams, families, and friends.
The second session of NAAAP Detroit’s Annual Signature event, “Developing and Leveraging Your Signature Voice”, will be an evening workshop, followed by a gala reception at the Fairlane Ballroom in the landmark Dearborn Inn.
This session will begin with an interactive workshop presented by the GiANT Worldwide Panel. During this workshop, attendees will continue to develop deeper leadership insights. The 5 Voices Leadership framework will demonstrate how to overcome limiting beliefs about leadership skills. Attendees will also learn to leverage their voices to become humble, secure, and confident leaders. Dinner and networking will follow the workshop so attendees can immediately practice what they learned.
