Inaugural Women In NAAAP Detroit Program Launched on August 9

DETROIT, MI – August 9, 2017 marked the first Women in NAAAP leadership in series program of the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) Detroit Chapter.  The goal of Women in NAAAP (WIN!) Series is to guide women in the Asian American community. This program was created to help empower, support, and engage Asian American women to help shape them to become professional and personal leaders.

The August 9, 2017 session included dinner and drinks, featuring a moderator driven panel discussion that fielded many questions from the audience.

The event started with an introduction of the topic and two guest speakers Betty Chu, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Officer and VP of Medical Affairs from Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital and Stephanie Chang, State Representative of Michigan. These two guest speakers were invited for their diverse backgrounds and unique experiences.

They shared their life story with the audience and discussed the different paths they took to be where they are right now. They also communicated how they managed to balance their work life and their personal life. The stories that they told were filled with passion.

Both Betty Chu and Stephanie Chang ended the event with a bang leaving the audience with great pieces of advice and memories. One piece of advice that Betty shared was “having a support system has many positive benefits.” These are two powerful and successful guest speakers who have touched audience with their wisdom and guidance.

NAAAP Detroit would like to express its gratitude to the distinguished guest speakers and audience members who made the first Women in NAAAP session such a success. Please stay connected with all of NAAAP Detroit social media sites and we look forward to seeing you at our next WIN! Detroit event!  More details will be available soon at dtw.naaap.org.
