Inaugural Member Mixer Held on May 10
Detroit, MI – The National Association of Asian American Professionals Detroit Chapter (NAAAP Detroit) held its Inaugural Member Mixer on May 10, 2018 at the Bloomfield Township Public Library. At the mixer, Chapter President Taoqu Chen welcomed members and guests and thanked board members and advisors for their contributions, and the founding members, who generously provided the seed money for the formation of NAAAP Detroit. She also thanked the operational leadership team, for their exceptional services and dedication and the Member Mixer Planners Denise Grim, Daniela Buccaran, Anastasia Vang, and Sharon Dow for their hard work in making this enjoyable event a reality.
To start the event, founding member and Interim Membership Committee Chair Denise Grim led a “Circle of Friends” activity. Participants took turns holding a bamboo stick and introducing themselves. Each person spoke about how they could contribute to NAAAP and what they wish for. Afterwards, attendees enjoyed drinks and delicious appetizers while mingling and making new business and professional connections.
Several guests signed up for membership at the mixer and members made plans to volunteer their time and talents to make the organization stronger by helping planning future activities.
The following NAAAP Detroit activities were announced:
- In June, we will continue with our Learn & Grow series.
- In August, we are invited to the NAAAP National Leadership Convention in Atlanta. It will be a great learning and networking opportunity. It is open to all members. Also In August, we have partnered with MAPACC and APACC to host a Social and Business Etiquette workshop. And In November, we will have the NAAAP Detroit Gala, our annual gathering with inspirational speakers.
NAAAP Detroit is where we learn, grow, celebrate and find a sense of belonging together; to cultivate, empower and connect leaders for professional excellence and to engage the community. NAAAP Detroit would like to express its gratitude to the distinguished members and guests who made the Inaugural Member Mixer such a success.
