NAAAP Detroit Learn & Grow Series 2018 Session I Held on March 1: “Empower Our Ethnicity and Gender”

DETROIT, MI – “Empower Our Ethnicity and Gender,” a program designed to help women and minority professionals to break barriers, was held on March 1 at the Robert Kidd Gallery. The evening is part of the signature Learn & Grow series by the Detroit chapter of the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP).

Featured speaker is Beth Cafaro, a highly successful professional with extensive business operations, legal and human resources experience. The evening began with dinner, networking and an “ArtTalk” on the art world’s history of prejudice against women artists. In her keynote, Ms. Cafaro encouraged participants to uncover challenges, such as ethnically and gender biased perceptions, they are currently facing in the work place, and discussed the impacts such challenges can pose on career development. Through lively discussions, Ms. Cafaro guided the audience to discover practical tools to overcome barriers and advance careers, such as the necessity of generating institutional credit, effective self-promotion and taking calculated risks in career.

NAAAP Detroit would like to express its gratitude to the panelists and members who made the event a success. We hope that more members will be able to join us for the coming L&G events. More details will be available soon at www.naaapdetroit.org.

The mission of NAAAP-Detroit, www.naaapdetroit.org, is to cultivate, empower and connect leaders for professional excellence and to engage the community.
